Millersville, MD – J29, Inc. (J29) is announcing today that it has recently been awarded the Recovery Auditor Validation Contract (RVC) by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), serving as prime contractor on this five‑year engagement. J29 continues to build momentum as a contractor supporting CMS programs, highlighted by this $17.2 million RVC contract award, which reflects J29’s experience in Medicare claims review, audit validation, and program integrity support.
Under this program, J29 will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) claim determinations on Medicare Part A and Part B claims. The J29 Team will perform validation activities designed to assess the accuracy, consistency, and clinical validity of RAC determinations, in accordance with CMS program requirements.
“J29 is honored to support CMS’ Program Integrity mission through independent validation of RAC improper payment findings. Our accuracy reviews ensure determinations are clinically sound, policy compliance, and defensible – reinforcing accountability across the Medicare Fee-For-Service program,” said Kathy Dass, J29’s Vice President of Programs & Delivery.
J29 has long-standing experience supporting multiple CMS components across healthcare and program integrity-related initiatives. Today, J29 provides support to the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO), which oversees the Health Insurance Marketplace and related consumer protection programs; the Office of Financial Management (OFM), CMS’s chief financial organization responsible for cost oversight, Medicare secondary programs, and certain financial auditing; the Center for Medicare (CM), which administers Medicare Fee‑For‑Service and Medicare Advantage programs; and the Center for Program Integrity (CPI), which leads CMS’s efforts to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse across Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Marketplace programs.
Now, with the addition of the RVC program to J29’s portfolio, J29 is expanding its portfolio of CMS contract support with medical claims review, coding and policy analysis, audit validation, data analytics, and quality assurance functions aligned with contract requirements.
“Since company inception in 2017, J29 has been committed to both our employee-centered culture and mission to leave government programs better than when we found them. We are fortunate for the trust that CMS has put into the J29 Team to execute as the RVC, and we are looking forward to this expansion of our long-standing partnership to CMS,” said Nick Vass, J29’s President.
J29’s work under this contract will be performed in accordance with CMS requirements and applicable federal guidelines. J29 has previously supported programs contributing to reported cost savings outcomes.
What distinguishes J29 in the RVC role is its combination of clinical expertise, advanced analytics, and disciplined quality assurance processes, supported by a workforce deeply experienced in Medicare policy, medical coding, and audit review.
